Mira’s First Day!

Mira’s First Day!

It was Mira’s first day of school. She was finally a 7th grader! She would do anything to make this day perfect. As Mira got dressed, she started thinking about how she would make new friends. She had just moved here from another county, so she didn’t really know anybody. Mira was hoping that she would at least meet somebody in every class. But a horrible thought came into her mind! “What if she didn’t make any friends?” Her thoughts were interrupted when her mother called her name.

“Mira! Hurry up, or else you will miss your bus,” her mother yelled.

Mira’s bus came at 6:50. Right now it was 5:30. Sometimes Mira didn’t even know what her mother was talking about.

“Alright! I am almost ready. Give me a second,” yelled Mira back. She hurried into the bathroom to brush her pearly white teeth and comb her silky black hair. She took her toothbrush out of the holder and squirted some Colgate on it. After she was finished, she took her hairbrush and smoothed over her always-perfect hair. As she was putting on some make-up, her little sister, Mina, appeared in the doorway. Mira’s sister looked exactly like Mira, even her hair. Mira greeted Mina nicely and continued putting on her mascara. Mira stopped mid-way when she had a brilliant idea – she would dress her little sister up so cutely and surprise her mother! She whisked her little sister onto a chair and started with putting a bit of powder on. She was about to finish when her mother walked up the rickety staircase. She saw what Mira was doing and gasped!

“Mira! What do you think you’re doing? You know that Mina’s face is too gentle for make-up. Stop fooling around and go eat breakfast downstairs,” Mira’s mother scolded angrily!

“Sorry mom. I just thought that it would be fun,” Mira regretfully apologized. She scurried downstairs, leaving her mother to wash Mina’s face. She found her way to the kitchen and sat down at the table to eat her cereal, She had Frosted Flakes without milk. Mira hated milk. That would probably explain why she was so weak. Mira stuffed all the cereal in her mouth and gulped down the milk. She ran out of the kitchen and into the living room to grab her bag. She stuffed all her school supplies inside and ran upstairs to say goodbye to her mother and sister. After that, she hurried to the bus stop, since her bus came at 6:50 and it was 6:45. She saw a few kids at her bus stop. They were dressed really nicely and were waiting patiently. They look really uptight, but she decided to be friends with them. Mira ran over to say hello to them. The kids were not as strict as they seemed, they were actually funny, sarcastic kids who were also nervous for the first day of school. Mira had a boost of self-esteem when she realized that she wasn’t the only new kid in school. Mira knew this was gonna be a perfect day!
