Ashley Williams, Miss Virginia USA, wore two dresses designed by Fairfax Academy Fashion Career students for the USA State competition on Sept. 29.

Williams, 24, was crowned Miss Virginia USA on April 30. She chose one of the outfits for the interview before the USA competition Sept. 29 and another one for the state costume portion of the event.

Every year the competition has a portion where you have to represent your state in any way you choose, either a famous landmark, a slogan, or any other thing that you choose.

Williams chose a strong orange jumpsuit which represents the goddess of love, Aphrodite showcasing the slogan “Virginia is for lovers,” which was designed by Eve Spencer. The second design she chose is a one-shoulder draped gown which represents the Roman goddess, Virtus, who is also on our state flag. It was designed by Alora Schoenberg.
