Clubs officially started at RCMS on Sep 13. They are available to everyone, with different clubs every day of the week.
Many types of clubs are available for students to join, from a cooking club to a K-Pop dance club, and an investment club to a pride club for the LGBTQ+ community and allies. Club categories include sports, art, competitive competitions, games/video games, books and music. Students can even create new clubs with the help of a staff sponsor.
If you want to go to a club, you must go to the cafeteria after the final bell rings. There, you will find a poster with a schedule of when each club is available. You have to sign up to your club of choice by scanning the bar-code in the cafeteria and picking the club you want to go to out of the clubs available on that day.
Many clubs require prior sign ups, and some need tryouts. Clubs such as Math Counts, Science Olympiad, TSA, MUN, Debate, Science Bowl have almost finished with the tryout process.
Clubs such as cooking club, weight lifting club, rocketry and many others require prior sign up. These sign up forms will be emailed to you by Mr. Riley Barrows, after school specialist, before the club starts.
When you do go to a club, you have two options. You either choose to leave at 3:30, or choose to leave at 4:30 and take the late bus home. If your club finishes at 3:30, there will be no late buses to take you home, but you can work on homework until the late bus arrives.
Your late bus would be different from your normal bus, so go ask your administrator what bus you would go home on after clubs. There are no clubs on holidays or early release days.
If you are interested in starting your own club, you must have a club idea and a teacher sponsor. Once you have successfully formed an idea, you should interact with Mr. Barrows, and find the best schedule and room for it.
Contact Mr. Barrows for any other information or questions about clubs.
