This year, RCMS students  are planning to give out candy and notes to family and friends for Valentines Day.

“Valentines is a cute holiday and i think the morals are good,” said Collins Han, 13-year-old, of the eighth-grade Dolphins team.

Valentine’s Day holiday where we get to show love and appreciation to the people who mean a lot to us.

Collins favorite part about Valentine’s day is when she gets to eat candy and give out treats to friends

Collins shared a special memory from two years ago.

She said, “Me, my dad, and stepmom went to North Italia for dinner in Reston Town Center. We had a lovely dinner and went shopping afterward. My stepmom surprises us with little boxes filled with candy and delicious treats.”

Collins doesn’t have any specific traditions, but she mentioned that she’ll probably go to dinner with her family again this year. Spending time with loved ones is always a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Some people exchange heartfelt cards or gifts, others enjoy a romantic dinner with a partner, and some even have fun celebrating Galentine’s Day. It’s a day to spread love and make those around you feel special.

Galentine’s is a tradition that 13-years-old, seventh grade, All-Stars, Emma Speckhardt celebrates. She celebrates by  eating chocolate with friends and hanging out.

Emma thinks Valentines is a bit overrated because if you’re single, it’s not as fun.

When asked about her plans, Emma said she’ll celebrate with her friends. Enjoying the day with friends is always a great idea!

Valentine’s Day is a special day for many people, but not everyone celebrates like TJ Kim, 14-year-old, eighth-grader of the Voyagers team.

“I don’t celebrate,” said TJ.

TJ mentioned that in sixth grade, they gave out candy.

TJ also shared that he thinks Valentine’s Day is good because there’s candy on sale at stores.

Valentine’s Day is a special time to show love and appreciation to the people who mean the most to us. Whether you celebrate it with romantic gestures, spending time with loved ones, or simply enjoying the sweet treats that come with the holiday, Valentine’s day is a chance to spread joy and happiness. So whether you’re single, in a relationship, or just enjoying the day with friends and family, embrace the love and make the most of this heartfelt holiday.

Valentine’s day is such a fun day to celebrate,”  said Emma.
