After placing fourth overall in the Fairfax Regional on Feb. 24, the RCMS Science Olympiad team advances to represent RCMS at the state level on April 6 at UVA. The RCMS team won a total of 18 medals at the Fairfax Regional on Feb. 24.
In the initial months of the school year, over 150 students from RCMS took part in the Science Olympiad try-out process. From these 150 students, 45 were selected to be part of the team. These 45 students were divided into three teams: Arsenic, Manganese, and Cobalt. They were assigned three or four events to compete in and met twice a week at school with their partners.
Ahead of the regional competition, the team took part in three invitationals as preparatory mock tests. Following three months of intensive study, the team successfully advanced to the regional stage, securing a spot in the state competition.
