A Ukraine drone strike attacked a major munitions and missile depot on Sept. 18 deep in Toropets, Russia. This strike caused a major disruption in the Russian lines.
The destroyed munitions include the following:
- Isklander missiles
- Tochka-U ballistic missiles
- An array of anti-aircraft missiles
- Artillery ammunition
These munitions made a significant secondary explosion causing much more damage to the surrounding area.
The facility struck by Ukrainian drone operators was part of the Artillery directories 107th and the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The conflict started on Feb. 24, 2022. Russia invaded Ukrainian land to seize territory and, some believe, supplies as well. Many countries in NATO such as the U.S. were threatening to sanction Russia’s leader, Vladimir Putin. Putin ignored the threat and kept pushing into the territory until where we are at today.
It is estimated that there have been over 500,000 Ukrainian casualties as of April 2024.
