The MLB is starting to heat up as the playoff month of October is drawing closer.
Eight teams are jousting for six playoff spots, and in the final stretch of the season, there are some huge matchups coming up.
National League Postseason Race:
With the month of October drawing closer, let’s check out the teams that are flocking for position in the
NL Wild Card Race:
The accurate San Diego Padres clinched the playoffs on the night of Sept. 24 with an astounding 5-6-3 triple play.
The defensive Arizona Diamondbacks hold the number two spot in the NL Wild Card race, with about a 90% chance of playing in October. They are led by Corbin Carroll.
The all-around New York Mets hold the final Wild Card spot. But with a key showdown with the Braves, they are given about a 60% chance of making the playoffs.
The consistent Atlanta Braves are now one game back from the third and final Wild Card spot. They opened up a huge faceoff against the Mets that will greatly affect the postseason, and they have won Game 1.
American league Postseason race:
As the postseason draws even closer, the American league has three teams fighting for the last spots:
The young Baltimore Orioles, led by Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutchsman, have already clinched their spot in the fight with a 5-3 victory.
The strong Tigers lineup are trying to find their spot in October. This lineup is led by star Riley Greene. Tarik Skubal, their superstar pitcher, is a Cy Young candidate.
The speedy Kansas City Royals led by young superstar and MVP candidate Bobby Witt Jr., are tied with the Tigers for the final spot.
The versatile Minnesota Twins are fighting for a wild card spot, led by stars Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa. They are two games back from the Royals and the Tigers.
Dodgers:
The Los Angeles Dodgers are led by four time all star and two time MVP Shohei Ohtani and superstar Mookie Betts. They were the fourth team to clinch.
Yankees:
The Yankees are a powerhouse team with stellar home-run hitters, most notably Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.
Brewers:
The first team to clinch the postseason, the Brewers are the AL Central champions for the third time in the past four years, helped by solid all-around hitting.
Guardians:
Led by 6 time all-star Jose Ramirez and stellar relievers, most notably Emmanueal Clase, the Guardians clinched the division on Sept. 19.
Phillies:
Clinching a postseason berth on Sept. 20, the Phillies are considered one of the powerhouse teams in the NL, led by their stacked team of superstars.
