RCMS seventh-grade students will be attending the science field trip on Oct 18, 21, 22, 23, and 24 depending on their class, from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Lake Fairfax.
Students will be testing water and learning about the animals that live there. They will also be finding biotic and abiotic things in the lake. There will be six stations with activities that will help students learn about the lake.
Everyone will eat at the field trip location. There will also be bathrooms provided on the field trip.
What to wear: Wear something comfortable but also something you’re not afraid to get a little wet in like a raincoat. Also wear waterproof shoes or sneakers, shoes that you’re not afraid to get dirty, not crocs and wear long pants.
What to bring: A water bottle, your lunch if you are bringing it, and pencil.
Transportation: For transportation will be on a bus there and back.
Our middle school has gone on this field trip for many years. Middle schools all over the county go on this field trip.
There will be one teacher running two stations; the other stations are run by scientists.
A clipboard and a name tag will be given to you in the morning. An announcement will tell you to go to the cafeteria and sit with your assigned small group.
There will be one chaperone in each group. Your parents will also be able to sign up to chaperone for the field trip.
