Local high school school varsity volleyball and football sports seasons have begun for the 2024-2025 school year.
South Lakes varsity football team leaders consisted of the following:
- Will Kouadio, 44.5 receiving yards per game
- Mohamed Shuaib, 2 passing TDs
- Matthew Mcarthur, 1 receiving TD
- Canyon King, 1 interception
- Nathan Deglel, 7.0 tackles per game and 3.5 sacks
- Cody Wood, 86.3 rushing yards per game, 8 total TDs, and 8 rushing TDs

Chantilly and South Lakes varsity volleyball teams have also gotten their team leaders. At Chantilly High School, the team leaders include:
- Mimi Mambu, 3.6 kills per set, 16 serving aces, and 0.9 aces per set
- Erin Green, 0.422 hitting percentage
- Julia Horan, 15 total blocks
- Nola Murphy, 4.0 digs per set
At South Lakes High School, the varsity volleyball team leaders consist of:
- Sean Anderson, 3.9 kills per set, 0.267 hitting percentage, 6 serving aces, and 0.7 aces per set
- Gautham Anand, 4.4 digs per set
- Soroush Zahedi, 5 total blocks

The high schools have had many games so far in the season.
- On Sept. 27, Westfield’s football team played against Justice high school at 7 p.m. This game was a home game. Westfield’s football team also played against Falls Church.
- Chantilly’s Varsity football team played against James Madison High School.
- At Oakton High School, their varsity football team played against Centreville High School. This was an away game at Centreville. On Sept. 30, Oakton varsity volleyball team had a game against Centreville high school.
Since the sports season started, there have been numerous wins and losses for the high schools.
- Starting with Westfield, on Sept. 18, their varsity football team won against Langley with Westfield scoring 26 points, while Langley only scored 6. On the 21st of September Westfield’s varsity girls volleyball team went against Robinson high and won 2-0.
- Chantilly’s varsity football team played against McLean high school Sept. 13 and won 28-13. On Sept. 20, Chantilly high school’s varsity football team lost against Hayfield with Chantilly scoring 0 points, while Hayfield scored 70. On the Sept. 21, the football team won against Tallwood high school 2-0.
- The top three defenses during the Oakton vs. West Springfield’s games on Sept. 20 are first, Deylen Jones with 10.0 tackles, Carson McCullough with 10.0 tackles, and Ryan Hernriques with 5.5 tackles.
- On Sept. 26, Oakton’s boys volleyball team won against James Madison 3-0.
- The South Lakes varsity girls volleyball team lost against Centerville with South Lakes scoring 0 points, and Centreville scoring 3.
- At Herndon high school, the varsity boys football team won against Wakefield on Sept. 21. The Herndon football team scored 21 points and Wakefield scored 0.
- On the Sept. 27, the Herndon varsity boys volleyball team scored 3 points against Langley high school, winning their game. Langley only scored 1 point.
- Herndon varsity girls volleyball team won against WLHS 3-2 on Sept. 25.
Each school sport has a ranking in VA, in VA division 6A or class 6, and in Washington DC Metro. Some schools even are ranked nationally.
- The Westfield varsity football team is ranked #45 in VA, #13 in VA division 6A, and #37 in Washington DC Metro.
- The Westfield volleyball boys team is ranked #74 in VA, #15 in VA class 6A, and #40 in Washington DC Metro. The girls volleyball team is ranked #74 in VA, #15 in VA class 6, and #40 In Washington DC Metro.
- At Chantilly high school, the Chantilly varsity football team is ranked #143 in VA, #33 in VA division 6, and #109 in Washington DC Metro.
- The Chantilly girls varsity volleyball team is ranked #24 in VA, #5 in VA class 6, and #11 in Washington DC Metro, and the varsity boys volleyball team is ranked #122 national, #45 in VA, #20 in VA class 6, and #12 in Washington DC Metro.
- The Oakton varsity football team is ranked #123 in VA, #31 in VA division 6A, and #96 in Washington DC Metro.
- The Oakton varsity girls volleyball team is ranked #241 in VA, #39 in VA Class 6, and #151 in Washington DC Metro. Oakton Varsity boys volleyball team is ranked #91 national, #30 in VA, #12 in VA class 6, and #6 in Washington DC Metro
- The South Lakes varsity boys football team is ranked #151 in VA, #36 in VA Division 6A, and #116 in Washington DC Metro
- South Lakes varsity boys volleyball team is ranked #55 national, #18 in VA, #6 in VA Class 6, and #3 in Washington DC Metro. South lakes varsity girls volleyball team is ranked #70 in VA, #14 in VA class 6, and #43 in Washington DC Metro
