Mr. Tony Washington was recently announced on Sept. 3 as the new principal of Rachel Carson Middle School. He has been working with Fairfax County Schools for over 20 years.
According to an announcement from FCPS, Mr. Washington started his career in 2002 as a Phys Ed teacher teaching at multiple schools, but mostly spent his time at Langston Hughes Middle School.
Mr. Washington then became an assistant principal at South Lakes High School and then Sunrise Valley Elementary, and then he went to Forestville Elementary, where he was principal since 2019.
“Under his leadership, Forestville Elementary received the prestigious FCPS Excellence in Equity Award for raising the bar for all students,” the announcement stated.
