On Nov. 20, the National Weather Service(NWS) issued a heavy snow warning for parts of Virginia and Maryland. These areas could experience up to over a foot of snow on Nov. 21 until Nov. 23.
According to FOX5 Weather Report, a cold front is moving in creating storms wherever it goes. These storms, with powerful winds and strong winds can down power lines. The heaviest snow is to happen on Nov. 21.
Meanwhile, the Northwest region is suffering from a Bomb Cyclone. The cyclone made landfall on Nov. 20, and its effects were widespread. A Bomb Cyclone, according to The World from A to Z, is when the air pressure drops 24 millibars in 24 hours. This storm dropped 48 millibars in 24 hours.
The power companies have reported extensive damage to their power lines, and 170,000 homes and businesses are out of power for the third day in a row. Meteorologists will continue to monitor both storms.
