This year’s Super Bowl halftime show will be performed by Kendrick Lamar on Feb. 9, 2025, pleasing lots of rap fans but angering some pop fans.
Kendrick Lamar is an American rapper from Compton, California. He is currently 37 years old but he started rapping at 16 years old. He is famous for his lyrics and disses in his songs.
Grant Thompson, 12, from the Majestics team says, “I’m really excited for him to perform in the halftime show.”
Grant also says that Kendrick Lamar is his favorite artist.
“He’s the goat,” Grant says.
Owen Pellerin, 13, from the Majestics team says, “I think he’s an amazing artist, he has made and produced many songs on the Billboard top 100.
Most people think Kendrick Lamar is going to be in the Super Bowl halftime show this year because of his deep love for making music but some people disagree.
Owen says, “I think the main reason he’s doing it is to gain popularity because of the beef with Kendrick and Drake.”
Kendrick and Drake have been dissing each other in their songs since the summer. They have created songs like “Like That,” “Family Matters,” etc. But the song that blew up the most and went viral is “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar. After this song Drake stopped dissing him and people are saying he fell off.
Grant is very excited about Kendrick Lamar performing in the halftime show.
Grant says, “He’s the greatest artist right now and has some of the biggest songs out. He also revolutionized some of the rap industry and can spread across several areas of rap.”
Kamila West, from the Champions team is not happy with Kendrick Lamar performing in the halftime show.
Kamila says, ”I think it should be someone more clean like Taylor Swift.”
Ms. Christy Ryder, counselor for the Majestics and Dolphins teams, thinks its a good idea that Kendrick Lamar is performing.
Ms. Ryder said, “He is very well known right now and has proven that he has the audience that wants to listen to him.
It is unknown what Kendrick Lamar will perform at the Super Bowl.
“I think he will perform multiple songs from the album ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city and the song Humble’,” Owen says. “I also think that there is a good chance that he plays the song ‘Not Like Us’ because of his beef with Drake.”
Grant says he’s almost positive he knows what he will perform.
Grant says, “I think they will play ‘First Person Shooter’ by Drake and J Cole until the line, as big as the Super Bowl comes up. Then he will start the song ‘Like That’ or ‘Not Like Us’ that are diss tracks to Drake.”
