The Lululemon and Sephora trend is going viral right now, and many RCMS students are rushing to participate.
Kamila West, seventh-grader on the Champions team, said she enjoys these brands although they can get expensive.
Olivia Slagle, age 12, on the Dream Team, isn’t as big a fan.
“Everyone I see is copy and paste with the same outfit and accessories,” she said. “I don’t like these trends. I also think Lululemon is overrated.”
Ms. Amy Allen, an English teacher on the Legacy team, said she likes some of the products but not the prices. These brands are expensive, with prices like $118 for a pair of Lululemon leggings or $24 for lip gloss from Sephora.
Ms. Allen says, “I like this trend, but my wallet doesn’t.”
Because of these high prices, people have started making replicas of the products for cheaper. Brands like e.l.f and SheGlam are dominating the market with their replicas.
Another big thing with the Sephora and Lululemon trend is sustainability.
Kamila said, “I think this trend will come and go, like other trends.”
Jasmine Wang, age 13, on the Voyagers Team, is not a fan and thinks it will go sooner.
“This trend will be short lived and has lots of overconsumption,” she said. “… I hate when people talk about it in the halls, and I’ve been mentally scarred by this trend.”
Ms. Allen is concerned about another down side of trends like these.
“If you let trends guide you, you will lose your authenticity,” she said.
Ms. Allen said she thinks these brands’ popularity will last awhile awhile longer.
She said, “There will be waves of lows and highs. … [People] like to wear nice clothes and we care about our skin health.”
Olivia thinks it will fade out soon.
She said, “I definitely think this trend will fade out faster than other trends because of the inconvenience of the prices.”
