Students came off the bus Oct. 28 through Oct. 31 dressed up for the first spirit week. Multiple students wore pink tutus, plaid pajamas pants, onesies with cartoon characters on them, and their Halloween costume.
Jaxon Revely, 14, an eighth-grader, was dressed as P. Diddy, wearing a gold oversized tuxedo, sunglasses, and gold jewelry.
Layla Lillington, a seventh-grader on Legacy team, said she enjoyed seeing students dress up.
“What made it enjoyable for me was that other people dressed up,” she said. ”It was cool to see what people dressed up as, it entertained me.”
Kaitlyn Rowe, 12, a seventh-grader on the Majestics team, also enjoyed seeing students’ outfits.
“This spirit week was enjoyable for me because everyone had such amazing outfits,” she said.
Dylan Dodson, a seventh-grader on Legacy, said seeing students and teachers coming together to do different activities made it enjoyable for him.
“What made this spirit week enjoyable for me was probably seeing all the different students and teachers coming together to do different activities,” he said.
Both Layla and Dylan said that Ms. Amy Allen, an English teacher on the Legacy team, had the best outfit. On Oct. 31, she wore a long sleeve green shirt, blue overalls, a green Luigi hat, a mustache, and her hair was in pigtails. She was matching with the other Legacy team members’ theme: Mario Kart.
“Ms. Allen had the best outfits because her outfits were so colorful and so on theme and enthusiastic. One of her outfits was Luigi,” Layla said.
Dylan also said Ms. Allen’s Luigi outfit was his favorite during spirit week due to the amount of effort she put into her costume.
“She wore something creative and put a lot of effort, and made a box and random scraps into a Mario Kart,” he said.
Kaitlyn said her favorite day from spirit week was pajama day.
“Pajama day was my favorite because it gave me an excuse to wear my pajamas to school. I wore Plaid pants and a black shirt,” she said.
Layla described what she wore: “A black t-shirt and red and black plaid pajama pants,” she said.
Many students had creative and fun ideas for future spirit weeks as well. Some ideas were:
- Lorax day
- Minecraft day
- Emo day
- NFL day
- Hat day
- 2000s day
Dylan said he hopes more students participate with the next spirit week.
“My hope for the next spirit week is maybe more students engaging in the spirit week,” he said.
