One in five Americans claims to have experienced a paranormal encounter.
Virginia Anseloni-Dias, a seventh-grader in the Trailblazers team, is among those who thinks encounters with ghosts are possible.
“I think they are real,” she said.
A recent study claims that 1 in 5 people have seen a ghost. If this is true, then there are more than 50 million ghost sightings just in the United States.
While some people claim to have seen a ghost, some students are skeptical.
Gina Barylski, a seventh-grader on the Majestics team, said, “I think they just want attention.”
Abigiya Yemane, a seventh-grader on the Legacy team, said, “Some of them might be telling the truth.”
As many people think, ghosts activate in spooky places.
“It happens in dark and old areas,” said Virginia.
“Dark spooky places and ruined buildings,” added Gina.
“I have read books about ghosts near creepy graveyards,” said Abigiya.
A lot of people have experienced paranormal things or have been scared of a particular place for they might have a feeling that it is paranormal.
Mrs. Rachel Copeland, a counselor on the Trailblazers and Wolves teams, and Abigya used to share the same feeling of not being sure of a certain place.
“We had a storage closet,” said Mrs. Copeland. “It was scary, I always thought something was going to jump out of that.”
Abigya remembers a frightening incident from early childhood too.
“When I was little, I went to my mom’s friend’s house because it was Christmas time,” said Abigiya. “I was going up the stairs when I saw something. I don’t remember what it was but I saw some weird hands and legs. I sped down the stairs. I had a mini heart attack. It was dark so I could not see anything. It was also at night so it made it more creepier.”
