Disney and Miral (one of Abu Dhabi’s creators for destinations and experiences) have announced a new most technologically advanced theme park, which is set to be released on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
The new park is located in the United Arab Emirates, which is a significant gateway for tourism. According to Disney’s website, this is because the UAE is located within a four hour flight of one-third of the world’s population. About 120 million people travel through Abu Dhabi every year.
The resort will include advanced technology and new architectural designs inspired by Disney and Abu Dhabi’s culture.
Mr. Matthew Eggers, one of the engineering teachers at RCMS, thinks that there will be a mix of cultures.
“I know that there’s probably some Disney themes and stuff that they probably don’t even just agree with just based on culture,” said Mr. Eggers, “I wonder how much of it will be about that specific thing, or if it will be kind of a little different spin.”
Aahna Shekhar, 13, on the Wolves Team, thinks about characterized food.
“I think the food will be heavily based on characters and themes of Disney,” said Aahna. “But I think they will also include Abu Dhabi ‘specialties’ and still be characterized.”
Mr. Eggers hopes for Abu Dhabi themed food.
“Because that would be what I would want to go there for,” he said.
There is a lot of speculation about how the new park’s rides will be.
Anvit Raj, 13, on the Voyagers team is curious about how the rides at the park will be like.
“I think there will be a variety of rides,” said Anvit, “They will probably bring in a mix of thrill rides and classics like teacups or carousels.”
Akrem Hashim, 14, on the Voyagers team, thinks about other types of rides.
“They’ll probably have simulators,” said Akrem, “for the people that are too young for the rides.”
While some students are excited about the possibilities, others are more hesitant.
Aahna wouldn’t want to go to the park.
“I would want to go with my whole family,” said Aahna, “but it would be very far and expensive.”
Akrem says he would try it out.
“I mean, you only live once,” he said, “so just try it out, you know, try out things.”
Mr. Eggers would go to the park.
“I would like to go,” said Mr. Eggers, “travel the world some more.”
