Inventions Of Tomorrow

Why do we create and innovate? To solve problems. During the past year, scientists have created the following inventions to help us find answers.

Newlight Technologies is an upstarting company with a way to help global warming. They can create aircarbon-1050x488-800x372an eco-friendly version of plastic called AirCarbon that costs less than the oil based plastic that we currently use. They make it by harnessing methane from a local dairy farm’s waste and then transport it to a bioreactor. Next, enzymes combine the gas and air to form a polymer. This plastic is a market driven solution to global warming. Several companies have already agreed to use AirCarbon in products such as Sprint smartphone cases and Dell computer packaging. Newlight Technologies may be the future of plastic.140331150710-crabster-graphic-side-2-horizontal-gallery

A Robot Crab- What is is happening in areas we can’t see? That is the questions scientists at the Korea Research Institute are trying to answer. Their solution is the Crabster CR200. It is a robot that is built to explore places underwater where humans can’t go. It weighs 1,500 pounds, has six legs, and it stabilizes itself by putting it’s head down and it’s rear up. It can also dive in waters up to 660 ft deep. The Crabster CR200 is equipped with 11 cameras, a Doppler radar, and sonar.

Zwift- Virtual reality biking. How cool is that? Zwift allows you to stay in the comfort of your own home while going on a real bike ride. If you bike inside on a stationary bike, you will agree with me when I say that it is incredibly dull. With hqdefaultZwift, you can compete against people from around the world, making you work twice as hard as you normally would. Your speed is adjusted by your height, weight, and the course that you chose. The more watts you produce, the faster you will go. Zwift is a fun way to work out!

A Shot To Save Soldiers- Ever since midway through World War II, more than half of the deaths of soldiers have been from bleeding out on the battlefield. Scientists have solved that problem with something called Revmedx Xstat. Revmedx Xstat is injected into the body using a syringe full of tablets that act like sprevmedx-xstat-262x192onges. You inject it into the wound and within twenty seconds of making contact with the blood, the sponges expand and temporarily clot the blood. This would only be used in case of an emergency and would last for up to four hours after injecting, which is typically enough time to get to a hospital or medical center. Revmedx Xstat will save hundreds of lives on the battlefield and will make a big difference in the future of health.

These are just four of the newest inventions of 2016. All of these inventions have a purpose whether it is for exploration or health or just entertainment. The future is a bright place thanks to many inventors, creators, and engineers. We can’t wait to see what 2017 brings!
