Fortnite and Pubg are both popular games among Carson students, but it turns out that more students prefer Fornite Battle Royale over PUBG.  Out of 74 people surveyed, only 11 people voted for PUBG and 63 people voted for Fortnite. “The teamwork and working by yourself and things like that, are the things I like about Fortnite,”said Zion Amorim, from Majestics team.

Fortnite was released on July 25, 2017. Pubg was released December 20, 2017. Fortnite has gotten extremely popular since it was released, so has PUBG. But, Carson kids have been arguing over which one is better than other.

The thing that separates the two games are the graphics. On the surface, both PUBG and Fortnite Battle Royale mode are very alike, right from the start. Before starting the battle, the players get to practice and mess around. Once the game starts, players are all dumped into an airbus, (or an airplane if you’re playing PUBG). When you land at your designated area, you try to be the last one standing. But, you don’t get to choose your own avatar — every new game, the avatars gets changed. There are such modes as duos, teams and solo. You can play both these games in mobile, Xbox, PC, PS4 and other.

Basic things like these are what make these games similar. However, there are quite a few differences that each have which makes one more preferable than the other. The games have different equipment. In PUBG, the players are allowed to drive cars and they need to find clothes. 

“The graphics are way better in fortnite then in PUBG, also the quality of the game is different and that’s what makes Fortnite better and more addicting.” said Nakia Wilson, a PUBG player.

Another reason why people prefer Fortnite over PUBG is that in order to play PUBG, you will need to pay $30. The game then sells you loot keys to unlock certain loot boxes with. You can also purchase items found in these loot boxes from other players, sometimes to the tune of hundreds of dollars.

On the other hand, Fortnite, is 100 percent free to play. You can buy seasonal Battle Passes, but you never need to buy anything to play the game and enjoy it. If you want things such as v-bucks and new emotes, then you do need to pay; however, it is not required to buy those things.  

Most Fortnite players seem to agree on the fact that there are no bad things about Fortnite. “What, there are no bad things,” said Lisveth Del Cid Cruz, in the Voyagers team. “However the lags with the server and the bugs are some things that can be improved on Fortnite.”

The bad things about the games are that the cars in PUBG can be used to help you travel across long distances easily since the maps are huge, but they are just a traps because you can hear the motor from across the map. In Fortnite there are a lot of glitches and sometimes it automatically gets you out of the game.

Nakia said the effect of the games on students is mixed.

“Well they’re kind of good for you but also bad for you,” he said. “Some people think they ruin your brain but also if you were to really think about it, they enhance sight, hearing and reflexes.”
