Fairfax County middle schools should start at a later time

Middle schools in Fairfax County start at 7:30 a.m. Most middle schoolers take the bus to school. The majority of the buses arrive at students neighborhoods before 7 a.m. to take them to school. That means that many students have to wake up before 6 a.m. just to get ready for going to school. Middle schools should start around 8 to 9 a.m. instead of 7:30 a.m. Every day there are many students that are very tired in class, some students even fall asleep. If schools start later, then students will have more sleep and they will have more energy to pay attention in class. Many students are also late to school because they woke up late, missed their bus and had to take a ride to school. If schools start around 8 to 9 a.m., less students will be coming late to school because they aren’t forced to wake up so early to go to school.
