Superhero, fantasy, action and other types of movies are starting to release on time after multiple delays. There will be a lot of different movies premiering before 2023.

“I was surprised when these movies were delayed,” said Kavin Narayanan, eighth-grader, of the Dolphins team. “I wanted to watch these movies, but I had to wait until the movies were released.”

Marvel movies and DC movies are finally starting to release again. “Shang-Chi” and the “Eternals” have already been released.

More movies are most likely going to be on time like “Spiderman No Way Home.” Disney had a contract with Sony for Spiderman movies but the contract is scheduled to end after “Spider-Man No Way Home” releases, according to Small Screen. Until Disney makes a new contract there will be no more Spiderman with Tom Holland. “Thor: Love and Thunder” has been delayed by about 2 months. The movie will feature the “Guardians of the Galaxy” and Jane Foster, according to Verity. 

“I think Marvel movies are being delayed for a good reason,” said Kavin. “I think it will make the movie better”

The script of “Black Panther 2” will be rewritten due to Chadwick Boseman’s death, according to The Wrap. Many more Marvel Movies will be released but may be delayed. Many of these movies will premiere in theaters and will come to streaming services later.

“I watched ‘Iron man 2’ and I hated it. It just ruined the series for me,” said Rishi Jagarlapudi, eighth-grader, of the Xtreme team.

As for DC movies, “Black Adam” will be released with Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam. “The Flash” will also be released but won’t have the same actor as the tv series. “Aquaman 2” will be released and it is intended to be more mature than “Aquaman 1.” “Batman” will be premiering on March 4, 2022, according to Screen Rant. These movies will premiere in theaters or on HBO max after its debut.

“I haven’t watched any DC movies, but I have higher expectations from Marvel,” said Vinita Adhira, eighth-grader, of the Dolphins team.

Most fantasy movies coming out are mostly parts of a series or are sequels. Movies like “Ghostbusters” will go to theaters and might come to streaming services. It will most likely be available to rent on Prime Video and probably won’t be available on Hulu and Disney Plus but there is a chance for it to be on HBO Max due to the Warner Bros release strategy, according to Epic Stream.

“Fantasy movies are more fun to watch when combined with action,” said Rishi, “because of all the different elements in the movie.”

The third movie in the Fantastic Beasts franchise has been delayed for a long time partly due to COVID-19. It is now scheduled to hit theaters in 2022. Johnny Depp will not be returning in the third film of the franchise, according to US Magazine.

As for the Avatar series, there are five movies planned for the Avatar franchise which will be produced until around 2028 unless there are delays. “Avatar 2” was planned to release in 2018 but got delayed due to production issues and COVID-19. Stephen Lang who plays Colonel Miles Quaritch will be returning as the lead antagonist in the movie. The movie will go to theaters and will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar, according to Gamerant.

“I am looking forward to ‘Fantastic Beasts,’” said Kavin, “because I am a Harry Potter fan.”

Many animation movies have been delayed due to COVID-19. “Minions: The Rise of Gru” is one of the movies that has been delayed. The movie will be the fifth installment in the Despicable Me franchise. The movie brings back Steve Carell as Gru. The movie takes place after the closing events of “The Minions”. The movie will release in July of 2022 if it is not delayed, according to Devdiscourse.

“Hotel Transylvania 4” is also an anticipated movie. The movie is skipping theaters and is going straight to Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 14, 2022. The movie is expected to do well because the franchise has grossed $1.3 billion. The movie will feature Selena Gomez as Mavis, according to Collider. 

“The only animation I am looking forward to is Hotel Transylvania because of the comedy,” said Rishi.

Another movie, “Sing”, was a hit. The Sequel, “Sing 2”, which is produced by Illumination, will feature songs by artists Billie Eilish, Drake, U2, The Weeknd, Prince, Taylor Swift, BTS, Cardi B, and many more. The movie will most likely go to theaters, according to Collider.

“Rumble” is also a movie that was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Rumble” will be available to stream on Paramount Plus just 45 days after its theatrical release. It is scheduled to release on Feb. 18 2022 unless it is further delayed. The movie is an adaptation of a comic by Rob Harrell, according to Slashfilm.

“Spiderman Into The Spider-Verse 2” is a sequel to the animated Spiderman film from 2018. It is an animation by Columbia pictures. The movie will be released on Oct 7 2022 which is just four years after the first movie. It was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie is based on the characters created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, according to Slashfilm.

“I am looking forward to ‘Minions: Rise of Gru’,” said Kavin. “The first movie of the Minions was really good.”

Most action movies have gotten better and evolved to become some of the highest-rated movies ever. One of those movies is “Jurassic World: Dominion” which will debut on Jun.10 2022 after being delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This movie will be the sixth installment in the franchise. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return in the movie reprising their roles, according to Gizmostory.

Another action movie, “Top Gun: Maverick”, will be released May 27, 2022, for which fans have been waiting for over 35 years. The movie will be in theaters and will most likely be streaming on Paramount Plus afterwards. Tom Cruise returns as Lieutenant Pete Maverick Mithcell, according to Whattowatch.

“I think ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is going to be bad because a lot of time has passed,” said Ms. Jennifer Wright, teacher of Computer Solutions at Rachel Carson Middle School. “All the characters will be older, which will make it hard to imagine the movie with certain characters because some are older and some are missing.”

Another Tom Cruise movie is “Mission Impossible 7.” It will be released on Sep.30 2022 and will be available to stream on Paramount Plus 45 days after it is released in the theaters. The movie was delayed three times due to COVID-19, but will hopefully be released on time now, according to Collider.

One more fan-favorite franchise is “Transformers”. The new movie, “Transformers: The Rise of Beasts”, will be the seventh installment of the franchise and will be released on June 24, 2022. The movie will serve as an origin story for Optimus Prime who is the lead transformer. The movie may stream on Paramount Plus or Hulu, according to Cinemablend. 

“I love action movies because it applies to many directions,” said Ms. Wright.

Many movies have been delayed due to COVID-19, but now when they start coming out they will be very profitable because people are hungry for more. Some of them will be released on streaming services and theaters on the same day. They will mostly be playing on streaming platforms after theatrical release. Most superhero movies are being pushed to the next release date or being pushed back a few months due to production issues or COVID-19. Many Animations are skipping theatres and are going to streaming platforms. Some action movies are going to theaters, but a lot of them will be moving to streaming services after their theatrical debut, according to critics and reviews. 

“I hope the movies come out and don’t get delayed again as I am really excited to watch a lot of them,” said Simran Jaggi, eighth-grader, of the Xtreme Team.
