“Squid Game,” which started to stream on Sept. 17, involves a group of people in South Korea who are indebted. They get tricked into playing children’s games where it turns out that if you lose you die. With a total of 456 players, the winner of the game gets 45.6 billion South Korean won, which translates to $38 billion (USD). Survival in the game does not use knowledge, it uses skills. It features six children’s games:  Ddakaji ( Da-da ka-ji), red light, green light; dalgona (honeycomb); tug of war; marbles; glass tile game; and squid game (final game).

In the first episode, main actor Seong Gi-hun ( Lee Jung-Jae) explains that the squid game was a game he used to play in his neighborhood when he was kid. Children played a version of tag on a squid shaped court. No spoilers but the “Squid Game” itself ends up in a deadly journey.

“It was cool, I liked it,” said Mr. Kappatos, also a P.E teacher at RCMS.

Mrs. Lori Molnar, another P.E. teacher at RCMS, disliked the show because of the violence.

“I only managed through the first episode,” she said.
