TSA members excited for regional competition at TJ

The RCMS TSA team is going to Thomas Jefferson High School on Feb. 26 to participate in a regional competition where they will compete against other schools in the Northern district.

TSA, Technology Student Association, is a competition for middle and high school students to demonstrate their knowledge in STEM.

Students have been preparing for this day since early December to represent Carson in various STEM events ranging from debate to engineering, in both groups and individually. Those who won in the Regional Fall Rally Round, which took place in November, and those who will win in the upcoming regional competition, will advance to the state round taking place at the end of April.

Based on the results of the Regional Fall Rally, it is already confirmed that Carson will be sending at least 14 participants to the state round. This number is expected to increase after the competition on Feb. 26.

Saakruthi Palle, an eighth grade TSA member says, “It is inspirational to go to regionals to understand new innovations and technology and be able to compete with peers and represent my school.”

Carson’s TSA chapter, led by Ms. Sharma, seventh-grade Champions science teacher, consists of approximately 25  students who are competing to reach the national level in June.

Aashritha Penumudi, an eighth-grade TSA member says, “I am excited to attend the competition, as this will be one of the first in-person TSA events in a long time. We have worked towards this for several months now, and I think we have a good chance.”
