RCMS installs security cameras
RCMS installed security video cameras all around the school on the week of Feb. 20, in an attempt to reduce theft and vandalism on school grounds, according to the RCMS website.
The school has installed 50 interior and 17 exterior cameras. According to FCPS, it will not be continually monitored, but rather be used to identify students with footage up for review for up to 30 days. Parents will be notified if their child is in a video that has been reviewed by the school.
The cameras were placed in high traffic areas, like hallways, but not in classrooms or restrooms.
The cameras were funded by a 12 million dollar grant from the Virginia Department of Education.
