Band and orchestra students will be having their assessment on March 10-11, and Chorus will have their  assessment on March 16-17.

The assessments are like SOLs for the music students except it’s done in a group.

The band assessment will be in Kenmore Middle School, the orchestra will be in Marshall High School, and the chorus assessment is yet to be announced.

In their assessment, students will play their pieces on the stage, usually two or three pieces  for the judge adjudicators, who will give feedback. The students will be taken to a different room and will be given a piece they’ve never seen before. They’ll have to learn the piece in seven minutes without playing a note.

Three band groups will be performing as part of the assessments. The Concert Band will be playing the songs “Pride of the Regiment,” “Hidden Planet,” and “Ancient Moon.” Symphonic band and Cadet band will also perform.

Band students are expected to wear all black uniforms and have their own ride. If you have no one to transport you, contact Ms. Hitz.
