Cast prepares for ‘Matilda Jr.’ play

The day is growing nearer until the RCMS production of “Matilda Jr. The Musical.” The play will premiere April 28 in the Rachel Carson Tech Theater, along with two more shows on April 29 and April 30, the closing night. Now, after about a month of rehearsals, the cast is over halfway done preparing the scenes.

“Matilda Jr. The Musical” is the shortened version of the 2010 Broadway play, “Matilda The Musical,” based on the 1988 book, “Matilda” by Roald Dahl and the hit 1996 film “Matilda.”

According to Stageagent.com, the play follows Matilda Wormwood, a young girl with a love for reading larger than the love of her family, the Wormwoods, who are despicable and treat her like a germ. She starts school at a horrible institute run by Agatha Trunchbull, a woman who loves nothing more than scaring children. With the help of her kind teacher, Miss Honey, and her classmates, they do their best to revolt against the horrible ways of the Trunchbull.

On Dec. 17, the cast list was posted, with the following actors chosen:
